WebTransport is the next‐level web protocol that finally fixes all the weird hacks we’ve been doing with WebSockets, HTTP/2 push and gRPC. Built on top of HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 (but not HTTP/1.1), it gives you true bidirectional, multiplexed streams with both reliable and “fire‐and‐forget” unreliable channels—all over a single, TLS‐secured connection.
In the video, Hussein Nasser walks through how WebTransport sidesteps the limitations of legacy approaches, why HTTP/2 push never took off, and how real‐time apps (think live gaming, IoT or instant notifications) can finally get the low‐latency, flexible transport they deserve. Plus, he sprinkles in pointers to his Udemy courses and YouTube goodies if you want to dive deeper!
