WebTransport: A Game Changer
WebTransport brings reliable and unreliable multiplexed streams over HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 in a single, secure (TLS-protected) connection, solving the latency and bidirectional limits of WebSockets and gRPC. It lets you mix low-latency “fire-and-forget” messages with guaranteed delivery streams, all on top of protocols you already trust.
In this talk Hussein Nasser walks through WebTransport’s design, explains why HTTP/2 push and old notification models died, dives into Extended CONNECT upgrades, and explores how proxies can (and can’t) handle these new streams—making WebTransport the next big thing for real-time web and backend engineers.
