TL;DR
Turns out the October 19, 2025 AWS outage— which kept tonnes of services offline for over 24 hours—was kicked off by a DNS meltdown in Dynamo DB that then cascaded into EC2 and Network Load Balancer failures. AWS finally published the official RCA detailing what went wrong and why the DNS servers just couldn’t keep up.
If you want the blow-by-blow, the video breaks it down (0:00 summary, 5:30 Dynamo DNS, 13:41 EC2, 16:16 NLB) and the full report is here: https://aws.amazon.com/message/101925/. Plus, if you’re into backend ops, Hussein Nasser’s got a stack of free/paid courses and deep-dives linked in the description.
