TL;DR
AWS’s massive outage on October 19, 2025—which knocked out DNS for over a day—was finally explained 10 days later in the official Root Cause Analysis. A misstep in Dynamo’s DNS handling kicked off a cascade of failures, with EC2 instances and Network Load Balancers tipping over in turn.
