They inherited a rock-solid AWS microservices setup—Kubernetes, GitLab, Flux2, Prometheus, Terraform, Kafka, Postgres and a lightweight Linkerd mesh—and figured moving to GCP would be straightforward. Spoiler: it wasn’t.
Cluster quirks, data replication hiccups and subtle monitoring/logging mismatches turned the migration into a series of “wait, why isn’t this working?” moments. Through trial, error and some clever workarounds, the team finally ironed out the kinks and flipped that DNS record to GCP.
