Event-driven setups do promise loose coupling and limitless scale, but there’s more to the story: you’ve got to watch design-time vs. temporal coupling, and cranking up throughput often just shifts your bottleneck somewhere else. Plus, stitching complex workflows across services usually just smells like trouble in disguise.
Instead, focus on clear boundaries, get comfortable with how events can (and will) arrive out of order, and resist the urge to hide one complexity under another. When you handle coupling, scale and choreography with care, EDA can actually live up to its hype.
